          Our goal at Recreational Composites, inc is to produce the lightest, most accurate, high performance fins available. Lightning Fins are manufactured using a proprietary molding process that precisely orients carbon and glass fibers in a high strength epoxy matrix. Molding techniques developed since 1989 guarantee highly accurate foil shapes in every fin.                                      

          One question often asked is how durable the fins are with a foam core construction. Under normal sailing our fins hold up just fine. Besides offering a greater response time than fiberglass, carbon also has more fatigue life. However, for sailors in rocky areas where accidental groundings are common, be aware that Lightning Fins do not tolerate hard impacts. Tip areas subject to wear are given a generous buildup of glass. We are also proud to offer a low cost, in-mold, tune up service to keep your fin performing like new.
